This was an hour or so before we played our concert in Sesimbra.

I sincerely hope not but sadly it’s quite possible that this was the last concert given by the New Blood Orchestra. It was at the Super Bock Super Rock festival, Sesimbra, Portugal on July 7th, 2012.
Over the last few years we’ve played at some amazing venues: All over the Americas (both North and South), across Europe and even in a muddy field in Kent. It’s been incredible fun and a joy to work with such a fine group of musicians – all of whom seem to have the ability to combine exemplary professionalism with extreme fun at all times.
Huge thanks to Peter Gabriel for employing us, sharing his musical world with us and for being such a nice, decent bloke!

Friend, colleague and icon of British hornplaying – Richard Watkins.
Here he is playing at a rock concert with Peter Gabriel and the New Blood Orchestra (in a muddy field in Kent).
You only get that golden halo if you’re really, really good!
The bassoonist in the background is Sarah Burnett – and she’s really, really good, too.

This photo is, I admit, strange.
I did so much processing of it that I can’t quite remember how it got like this. I like it, though!
If you know what the Liver Building looks like you should be able to make out its twin towers in the psychedelic background directly above the people fishing.
There’s a larger version of it here, if you want to see some detail
